The Olde Church is the premier wedding and event center in the Cumberland Gap region located at the boundaries of Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky. The event center specializes in weddings, showers, birthdays, private dinners, and other events for 100 people or less. The grounds include a 1500 sq ft event space, 5000 sq ft gardens, and a five-bedroom guest house.
The Olde Church was built in 1890 by members of the Methodist Church. It remained an active Methodist church up until 1966 when it was formally decommissioned. From 1966 to 2017, the church was owned by various people and was used primarily for faith-based activities.
The church remained vacant from 2017 until April 2020 it was purchased by Bill and Tammy Linn. They passed by the for sale sign in front of the church while on a cross-country road trip and they purchased it 48 hours after laying eyes on it. In June 2020, the Linns began a massive renovation. Years of neglect, water damage, and termites threatened the church, and the Linns estimated that the building would be beyond repair in three to five years had it not been purchased by someone.
The restoration involved replacing or repairing nearly every corner of the structure. While the church is open for business, the building may never be “done”. There is still additional painting on the outside and window restoration that needs
