The Town of Cumberland Gap is a place with a rich history, a vibrant community, abounding natural resources, and a cozy, hometown feel that’s often described as Mayberry-like. With so much to offer, it’s necessary for a plan to be in place to maintain and nurture the unique character of this special place. That’s precisely the reason the Cumberland Gap Master Plan and Trailhead Development Plan was adopted.
The town received an Access to Health through Healthy Active Built Environments Grant from the Tennessee Department of Health (TNDOH) in 2018 to fund a master planning effort. The goal was to generate a plan that guides Cumberland Gap in prioritizing future needs, carrying out program improvements, and identifying financing strategies to enhance access to healthy active living opportunities.
This master plan will be used to promote our wonderful community and guide decision-making at the local level for issues such as funding and facility design as well as identifying and documenting key assets and strengths that can be used to promote the community to potential businesses, visitors, and residents.
